The Colorado Medical Board finalized rules on Aug. 17 to implement changes set forth in SB23-083: Physician Assistant (PA) Collaboration Requirements. This new law removes the requirement that a physician assistant be supervised by a physician or podiatrist except in certain circumstances.
These revisions can now be found in Medical Board Rule 1.15. The Board also has developed a Frequently Asked Questions document that may clarify any uncertainty created by these changes.
Please review these documents to familiarize yourself with the nature of collaborative agreements, and when supervising agreements are instead appropriate.

Get to know CAPA Leadership!
Alysia Wiley, Chief DelegateHello CAPA members! I am honored to serve as CAPA's Chief Delegate this year. I began my PA leadership journey as my program's Assembly of Representatives Representative. Following that, I was elected to the SAAAPA board for several years. My first job took me all the way to Cleveland, Ohio, but I was able to return home to Colorado after a few short years. Upon my return, I got involved with CAPA and have been a board member since 2014. I keep coming back to the board because I believe in CAPA's voice. PA practice is not perfect in our state, but we have come so far. The PA voice needs to remain strong and I am so excited to support the Colorado delegation at the annual AAPA conference this year. My goal as Chief Delegate is to ensure that Colorado PAs are heard within our national organization. Please, don't hesitate to reach out to your board! We would love to connect and to help you get involved. |
We embrace the strength of our members, and our constituent and partner organizations to speak with one voice for the PA profession in Colorado and work together to transform healthcare. Will you join us? |
